As you know, Fatty is has progressively made himself more and more at home over the last few months and although My two cats are not keen on the idea, they put up with it to a degree and Fatty goes out of his way to not cause any trouble. In fact, he is one of the most diplomatic cats I have ever known.
Having ingratiated himself upon the household, he has subtlely pushed the boundaries and has been sleeping on My bed for some time. That does not please My cats. Late last night, as Fatty vacated his spot on My armchair, My female cat jumped on and made herself comfortable in his spot. Fatty had finished having a bite to eat in the kitchen (the reason he left the armchair to begin with), and rushed across the lounge room and jumped back on “his” armchair only to have My female cat hiss at him in absolute horror. A quick retreat via the arm of the armchair and he sat on the floor a little confused. Nothing further happened for some minutes until it all became too much for Fatty and he decided he wanted to sleep on “his” chair so up he jumped again and curled up in the free space left by My cat. For the first time ever, both My cat and Fatty, shared a very small space which lasted for at least half an hour or more – neither budging or blinking and eye in that time.
This is a significant event in that at least one of My felines is developing more acceptance of Our semi-permanent guest. My burmese cat on the other hand, still ferociously disapproves and does not hesitate to make it known to Fatty that his presence is not appreciated.
